Letter: Life’s most important lesson

Dear Editor, We can all wonder what our under-paid school teachers, sweltering in sauna-hot classrooms think about our ‘honourable' members of Parliament, in their aircon offices, crying for more money so that they can skip work more often.

At the same time, we can wonder if many of those teachers might agree that our young people learn much more about how the world works outside the classroom than inside?

In any case, there’s a big lesson coming when we see what punishment the convicted fraudster, conspirator and disgraced MP receives. Here is a man, who sat, with his fellow ‘leaders’ and did nothing, absolutely nothing, to come to the rescue of the young herb growers of Aitutaki as their lives were destroyed for growing God’s medicinal plant that is not only legal in much of the world but is creating the jobs and taxes that might just keep some of our young people from being our No. 1 export.

Will this convict be sharing meals, work, showers and evenings with these young people in the Arorangi prison or will he be back on the home island coaching the wife in her new role? Stand by young Cook Islanders, you are about to be exposed to a most important lesson that will assist you in your life ahead to understand how the world works.
