Letter: Alcohol is the problem

Helmets – The problem is not the helmet. Statistically helmets save only 40 per cent of lives and that counts those left in wheelchairs or worse.

The problem that is always ignored is drink-driving. Alcohol is the problem and it is in cars as well. There are more car accidents now involving alcohol. There is still physical and sexual abuse because of alcohol.

When will the government address the root cause of most of our problems on the road and in the home?
