I was impressed with new buildings and houses under construction. Accommodation, motels and individuals constructing their own units. The harbour works continue for long hours.
Heavy traffic continues all day, ending about 9pm.
I asked a few questions to realise that there are so many drivers behind this boom. At the top is the Bishop himself, Teina Bishop.
Next to him is his brother the Mayor Tekura Bishop, then the big Doherty and Henry brothers, Teuira Ka and many others.
What amazed me was the work, discipline; people hastily driving to work like a New Zealand town, maybe a replica of Tokoroa.
Everyone appears busy.
It would be nice for visitors to the outer islands to respond with their impressions.
