President of the Niue society and landowner of the fale site, Meleaone Tumii paid tribute to her late brother Pastor John Tangi who in his last months had asked his sister to secure a piece of their lands to house the Niue hostel.
Premier of Niue, Dalton Tagelagi sent heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the government of Niue and its people.
On behalf of Dalton, Tumii read: “This milestone is a true testament to your vision. Hard work and dedication, to strengthening cultural ties and nurturing a sense of unity amongst our people.
“My thoughts and best wishes are with you all as you celebrate this significant achievement. The Fale Niue Kūki ʻĀirani undoubtedly stand as a beacon of pride, connection and shared heritage for generations to come. I eagerly look forward to the day of its opening when we will celebrate the fulfillment of this dream together.”
A minute of silence was held for the late Iro Rangi who was passionate about seeing the fale get started, Pastor John Tangi dear friends and family who have passed on.
