Titikaveka College prefects and head leaders for 2025. TALAIA MIKA/25022817
Yesterday, at the school, former head boy and Member of Parliament for Titikaveka, Sonny Williams, joined with families and friends of the school to celebrate this significant milestone.
It was also an opportunity to acknowledge a recent achievement by the school through a few of its students, who participated in the Umu competition last week Friday and returned with three trophies.
Williams encouraged the newly inducted prefects that this should not be the end, as there is more to come
“Well, as the former head boy of Titikaveka college myself, I understand how important these prefects, these positions are for schools. Every organisation needs leaders,” he said.
“Whether its political level, business, sports, culture, schools, wherever, leadership is key, so important, so congratulations to the parents, like the principal said, for raising such outstanding students with good qualities.”
School principal Raewyn Morgan stressed to the prefects that the effort invested in education, relationships and character will yield rewards.
“Though they may not come immediately, success doesn’t always come in the form of instant results. But with perseverance, patience and a continued commitment to doing good, we will see the fruits of our labour,” Morgan said.
“Keep pushing forward and together we will create a future filled with hope and accomplishment.”
As leaders of Titikaveka College, the students were encouraged to do good for the school and the community, as well as their families even when nobody is watching.
“When you feel weary, seek support. We are all here to support you. The seeds you plant today are the trees of the future,” Morgan added.
Head girl Miracle Puia acknowledged the teachers’ roles that brought her to the stage she is today, as well as her family.
“Today, I feel honoured to be able to name myself a privileged title that serves not only in our school, but our community as a whole. The title of student leader comes with great opportunity and heavy responsibility,” she said.
“Throughout all of the teachers I’ve learned from at this school, it’s done nothing but tremendously help me along the way. Seeing many of the younger generations, including my sister attending this school, I aspire to lead them and to contribute my all to this school for my last year here.”
She aims to be a leader the younger students can look up to, approachable and memorable.
Lathaniel Rau Atuatika was named the school head boy.
