The current road renewal and upgrade in Muri is expected to be completed in October, says Infrastructure Cook Islands Elizabeth Wright-Koteka.

Wright-Koteka said: “The public will note that the contractor, Triad, is currently undertaking preparations for asphalt sealing from Avana Bridge through the Aroko area before progressing on through the rest of Muri.”

She said at the same time, is the improvement work of drainage in the Muri area where there had been problems in the past. 

“At the completion of the works the whole of Ngatangiia’s roads will be sealed in asphalt and drainage improved significantly. 

“This is part of the overall work program of ICI, to upgrade all of Rarotonga’s main roads,” she added.  

The public is advised to take extra care when driving in the area and follow the traffic safety instructions.
