Punanga Tauturu announces new coordinator and logo

The country’s women counselling centre is holding its annual general meeting to discuss the past year, future plans and announce a new coordinator and logo.

The Punanga Tauturu Incorporated (PTI) Women’s Counselling Centre is excited to announce its annual general meeting (AGM) this afternoon at 5pm.

This meeting is an opportunity for women in the community to come together, reflect on the past year and discuss future initiatives aimed at supporting women.

Punanga Tauturu is dedicated to providing a supportive environment for women who have suffered domestic violence and rape, and helping to empower women.

Punanga Tauturu has a new centre coordinator, Julia Evans, who replaced long serving former coordinator Rebecca Buchanan. Evans is currently in Fiji attending a seminar on behalf of the organisation.

During the AGM this afternoon, Punanga Tauturu will also unveil its new logo designed by graphic artist Katarina Ravula.

The current Punanga Tauturu Women’s Counselling Centre executive committee are: President - Matanoanoa Hetland, Vice President - Karlene Taokia, Treasurer - Eileen Story, Secretary - Jane Tanner, committee members Pekalani Fisher and Mata Vaeruarangi.

Incorporated in 1994, the counselling centre is committed to human rights, education and legal literacy aimed at creating an informed society to enable the community to access justice.

Punanga Tauturu Women’s Counselling Centre assists women and men in learning how they can use the law to make decisions that can help them to keep their families and communities safe, secure and peaceful, and to hold their governments and societies accountable for their actions.

The AGM will be held at 5pm at the Punanga Tauturu Centre located behind the renovated Tupapa Outpatients. Membership fee is $10 for 12 months
