New shelters take off at Atiu Airport

Cook Islands Tourism has successfully concluded another tourism-infrastructure project on Atiu, this one aimed at meeting the needs of both visitors and the local community by upgrading the local airport shelters.

The initiative, which started in November 2022, sought to enhance tourism-related infrastructure, amenities, and services.

The replacement of deteriorated existing structures was a priority, resulting in the construction of two shelters that began in August, completed in September and an additional third shelter completed on November 28.

The project reflects a commitment to improving the destination’s overall appeal, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for both tourists and the local community.
