In Mangaia, Upokoongo Tairea and Pirimetua Uakino are standing for the one council member position for the village of Ivirua.
In the Island Government Election on August 15, no candidate for the Ivirua constituency was duly elected after Tairea and Uakino had both received 19 votes each.
The main electoral roll for Ivirua contains 43 names. Voting will take place on Wednesday, October 23, between 9am and 1pm at the Ivirua Queen Mary Hall.
Tetautua, a two-member constituency on Penrhyn Island, saw a tie in second place between candidates Teika Faira and Waland Koro Solo, who both received nine votes each. Matara Akatapuria received 11 votes.
The three candidates are again standing in the by-election for two of the councillor positions in Tetautua.
Voting in Penrhyn will be held on October 23 between 9am and 1pm at the Tetautua Administration Building.
Any eligible elector leaving the island before polling day or already off island may notify the executive officers Anthony Whyte for Mangaia, and Puna Vano for Penrhyn, or the Office of the Chief Electoral in Rarotonga to make provisions for special and advance voting. No postal voting is allowed in Island Government elections.
