Both schools came together to participate in the Maths Quiz which was held at the Omoka island administration building to wrap up Numeracy Week.
“The event was a success considering it’s a first for Tongareva (Penrhyn),” said principal Apii Napa.
The theme for Numeracy Week was “Let’s connect with numbers”, and from Monday through to Thursday each class level at both schools demonstrated particular skills to solve mathematical problems.
“We are trying our best to help and support our students with numeracy in all essential learning areas,” said Napa.
“This is one way to promote, teach and learn at the same time making learning interesting and exciting for our students.”
One of the highlights of the Maths Quiz was the participation and enthusiasm from the parents who also took part in the programme, she said.
Napa would like to thank the parents and both the Omoka and Tetautua communities for their support.
“Meitaki poria for the delivery of the Maths Quiz – the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of both schools, the Island Government and administration and the awesome effort and participation from all the students of Penrhyn Schools. Te Atua te Aroa.”
