Cook Islands Financial Services Development Authority (FSDA), the government agency dedicated to promoting and advancing the financial services industry, has appointed Karla Eggelton as chairperson of the FSDA Board of Directors.

Eggelton, who is the chief executive officer at the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation, brings extensive experience in both marketing and governance to the chairmanship role, FSDA said in a statement. Her experience and expertise at the helm of the leading economic sector in the Cook Islands are well regarded both locally and internationally.

Vaine Mac Mokoroa, the Minister overseeing the FSDA, expressed his enthusiasm for Eggelton’s appointment, citing her extensive background in marketing and governance.

“Ms Eggelton’s track record of effective leadership will be an asset to the FSDA for the challenges and opportunities ahead. I am confident that under her stewardship, the FSDA will continue to thrive and make significant strides towards achieving its organisational goals.”

Eggelton steps into the role, succeeding Dallas Moana Young, who completed a “commendable” four-year term as the organisation’s chairperson at the close of 2023.

Reflecting on Young’s tenure as chairperson, Minister Mokoroa offered his appreciation for her leadership of the FSDA through a number of organisational shifts, and the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude for the dedication and commitment Dallas demonstrated during her tenure as the chairperson of the FSDA board. Dallas’ invaluable contributions, strategic insight, and leadership qualities greatly influenced the growth, success and stability of the agency.”

Mokoroa added, “Her leadership has left an indelible mark on the agency and financial services industry. We are grateful for everything that has been accomplished under her chairmanship.”

The Minister anticipates a seamless transition under the leadership of Eggelton, looking forward to continued growth and success in fulfilling its mission.
