Really? Attacking the messenger Danny, that is not the professional way to use the CINEWS to defend or discuss your dirty laundry. Less is better, the focus should have been on the investigation of the incident rather than defending your position. All that does is provide people with ammunition to fire back at you. And you too Lesley as the CEO there should have been a no comment until such time as the investigation was complete and a report and recommendations tabled. Then you can have your say. All you have done is made people think that there is skullduggery afoot. Your words are intended to defend your position and deflect away from the fact that 4 men on your watch were injured when they should have been safe on the job. No matter the outcome of the investigation you and your management team are at fault with the buck stopping with you. If everything was hunkydory with your work practices there would have been no incident that ended in serious harm. Under any OSH legislation you would be facing court action. As an ex-OSH inspector in NZ I have investigated many such incidents, luck was all that saved these men and the fact that this country has no OSH legislation to protect workers. It will be interesting to see if the investigation identifies someone as the fall guy for managment's inept safety practices.
