Demolition makes way for Empire Bridge construction

Portions of the vaka shed have been demolished to make way for construction of the Empire Bridge. 21082205
Construction workers from Landholdings Ltd on Saturday demolished part of the Vaka Shed to make way for the upcoming construction work on Empire Bridge.
The Empire Bridge is down to one lane as work for the bridge’s demolition and replacement is underway.
Infrastructure Cook Islands (ICI) is yet to respond to queries from Cook Islands News on how long the work is expected to take, how traffic will be managed and what sort of disruption the construction would have on the businesses in the surrounding area.
The contractor in charge of the work, Landholdings Ltd said they were unable to speak about the bridge until ICI gave them the green light.
