If people recall there was a driving incident with a CITC vehicle a few years ago and concerns were raised then about a defensive driving course. Of course it fell on deaf ears and went nowhere. I put in a quote for such a defensive driving programme to CITC as I have experience in this area providing such a programme when I was the Safety Health and Environment Manager for ICI Paints in NZ. It went nowhere of course just all talk and no walk. As I drive around I notice many instances of poor driving skills, turning no indicators, exiting incorrectly, speeding, not watching where they're going and not helped by poor road management. Look at the CITC main store, look at the turn into Punanganui Market from the town side, just utter chaos. The judge has made a very good observation and those who say there is no defensive programmes here, actually have never asked the right question and that is, ask.
