Cook Islands Breast Cancer Foundation will kick off another Pink October with a focus on raising awareness, supporting women’s health, and celebrating the progress being made in the fight against breast cancer—both locally and abroad.

The Breast Cancer Foundation will also be celebrating its 20th Anniversary.

Jaewynn McKay, president of Cook Islands Breast Cancer Foundation says that for two decades, they have stood alongside the community, advocating for better healthcare, supporting those in the Pa Enua to travel to Rarotonga for breast screening, and promoting the importance of early detection and education.

On Monday, October 14, the foundation will be hosting a Pink October Health Awareness Session at Coastal Kitchen, Tupapa from 4.30pm, designed to empower the community with knowledge and practical skills to prioritise women’s health.

“It will be facilitated by clinicians from the Cook Islands Family Welfare Association (CIFWA) and Te Marae Ora (TMO), who will guide us through breast self-examinations and quick checks for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and cervical smear awareness.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, share, and connect in a relaxed and supportive environment. Whether it’s your first time attending, or you just need a refresher, we encourage you to bring along a friend or family member who could benefit from this valuable information.”

 Those wanting to attend are to RSVP by emailing jaewynn@xtra.co.nz or contacting McKay on 55 486.

Other events include;

·         SHECAN Breakfast by CIFWA: A morning of inspiration and networking at Crown Beach on Saturday, October 12. Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children (12 and under) – available from CIFWA.
