Young entrepreneurs are invited to be part of the International Youth Day event today at Te Are Karioi Nui (National Auditorium) Domes by setting up their own stalls.

The International Youth Day event is hosted by the Cook Islands Family Welfare Association in collaboration with the Cook Islands National Youth Council (CINYC).

There will be activities, food, and fun for the whole family.

The International Youth Day is commemorated every year on August 12, bringing youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrating the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.

The Day gives an opportunity to celebrate and mainstream young peoples’ voices, actions, and initiatives, as well as their meaningful, universal, and equitable engagement. The UN General Assembly (UNGA) established the Day on 17 December 1999, after it endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth calling for 12 August to be declared International Youth Day.

The CINYC was reestablished in 2008 and is an autonomous non-governmental organisation that aims to effectively represent Island and Vaka youth groups on policies and issues of concern to youth in the country.
