A sea of blue: Community rallies behind autism awareness

Apii Nukutere and the local community embraced “Blue Day” yesterday by dressing up in colour to demonstrate their support for Autism Cook Islands and its initiatives, programmes.

Autism Cook Islands’ programme manager Kat Jensen was delighted with the amazing support from businesses, schools, workplaces, government departments and community members.

Yesterday afternoon, the CC Tamure Fitness team held a special blue-themed fitness class at the Avatiu Clubhouse with all proceeds going towards Autism Cook Islands.

The best-dressed team in blue will be announced next week, with the winning team receiving a special morning tea.

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a life-long development disorder affecting social skills, language and communication skills and flexibility with thinking.
