Keeping the spirit of Christmas well and truly alive, a group of amazing 150 volunteers packed 1000 Christmas Box parcels in just 1.5 hours.

During the festive season it can be easy to forget that families are struggling to put food on the table but the Christmas Box ensures the less fortunate ones are able to share the joy of the season.

This year, the Christmas Box 2022 project, proved a success – thanks to the organisers, sponsors and the community and the hosts, the Celebration on the Rock church.

Christmas Box event organiser, Tina Iro acknowledged and thanked the sponsors and “wonderful” people who have helped to make the annual project a success.

“It was humbling to see so many people come together to serve with love and joy. God Bless and may everyone have a very Merry Christmas,” said Iro.

Christmas Box works closely with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Puna centres to select the recipients of the parcels. They ensure the privacy and integrity of the families are respected at all times.

Yesterday, the Christmas Boxes for Rarotonga were being delivered around the island.

Over 600 of the packages will be delivered to the Pa Enua. Due to transportation delays, as of yesterday 420 boxes were packed in a container waiting for the inter-island journey.
