This significant contribution highlights the company’s commitment to enhancing community health and well-being and aims to improve accessibility for patients with mobility challenges.
Landholdings administration manager Tangi Boaza, staff David Wichman and Taaki Puti handed over the transfer wheelchairs to health secretary Bob Williams and staff on Wednesday at Rarotonga Hospital.
“We hope and trust that these wheelchairs will enhance the recovery of patients including those in the Pa Enua with their mobility,” said Boaza.
Williams acknowledged Landholdings and Ocean Fresh’s Bill Doherty for the generous contribution and recognised the company’s ongoing gifting of key equipment for patients for many years.
“These will be very useful for our patients and support their well-being especially for those who cannot fit in the normal sized wheelchair as these are designed for heavier people.”
Manageable and robust, the transfer wheelchairs will also be shared out to the Pa Enua.
Te Marae Ora general support services manager, Helen Sinclair who is in charge of the distribution said each of the southern group islands will receive wheelchairs, as well as the Penrhyn and Manihiki, the rest will be stationed in Rarotonga.
In August this year, Land Holdings Ltd and Ocean Fresh donated 100 pairs of crutches to aid in the recovery and rehabilitation for patients.
