Two Elvis impersonators from New Zealand will perform in the Cook Islands to celebrate a local Elvis artist’s 60th birthday and raise money for charity.

The professional Elvis artists, who arrived in Rarotonga over the weekend, will relive the iconic songs and performances of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, during special events on the island this week.

Johnny-Angel, known as the “Pacific Elvis”, and Taurean K Mill, known as the “Southern Cross Elvis”, make professional Elvis appearances, including cruise ship shows.

They are specially here for the 60th birthday celebration of Paul Lynch, the Cook Islands Elvis tribute artist for nearly 30 years, on Wednesday at the Umu Experience in Tupapa.

While on the island, they will team up with Lynch and perform at various venues, raising funds for Creative Centre and Tennis Cook Islands.

Last night, they performed at Vaima Restaurant and on Wednesday morning, they will visit the Creative Centre to perform for both the centre’s members and Are Pa Metua members.

On Thursday, these artists will perform a “full show” at Café Ariki to raise funds for Tennis Cook Islands’ development and facilities. The buffet and show start at 6pm, and tickets are $65 each.

Those invited to attend Lynch’s birthday celebration have been asked to make an online financial donation to the Creative Centre instead of buying him a gift.

The events on Wednesday and Thursday promise to be evenings filled with iconic Elvis hits, dazzling performances, and a community coming together to make a difference.

Lynch expressed his excitement about the event and its charitable mission.

“Turning 60 is a significant milestone, and I wanted to mark it by giving back to the community that has given me so much,” he said.

Pacific Elvis, Johnny-Angel said: “It’s an honour to be part of such a meaningful event and to be back here in the Cook Islands.”

“Elvis always had a big heart, and I think he would have loved knowing that his music is being used to help others in need.”

The visiting artists are performing for free. Cook Islands Holiday Villas, owned by Lynch, is providing accommodation for the artists. Island Car and Bike Hire, which is providing transport, and Vili’s Burger Joint are the other sponsors.
