She has served as president of the women’s fellowship since 2001, when her husband stepped into the role as president of the CICC.
“We have been serving God for 43 years,” she said.
Since Sunday, May 26, a conference focused on spiritual faith and friendship has brought together 200 participants from the Cook Islands, Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. The event is being held at the Takamoa Theological grounds and runs until Sunday, June 2
Akevai is thoroughly enjoying the meetings and discussions and seeing the women happy.
“Mataora teia conference, mataora au, mataora katoa rae au ia ratou,” she said.
She noted the new generation of members and orometua wives are sharing their experiences as well as the women from the different Ekalesia.
Akevai and her husband entered Takamoa College when she was just 19 years old.
Now, at the age of 67, she expressed that her journey of faith has been fulfilling and that she will continue to serve God and ensure the women’s conference remains a success.
Yesterday, the topics of discussion included domestic counselling, spiritual health check versus spiritual health check, and advantages and disadvantages of technology toward our faith.
