Each child brings a piece of fruit, which is prepared by the class monitor Elisha Koronui.
“Some days some kids don’t bring fruit but that’s okay, I always bring extra fruit from my home,” said Koronui.
“Our aim is to get them into the habit of eating well when they are little and to relish the goodness of our local fruit – a bit of fruity delight.”
Koronui said the children are also taught to wash their hands before their meal and to say grace, as well as brush their teeth once a day.
Koronui and Reapi Sisiwa, the Early Childhood Education supervisor, are both pleased with the children’s enthusiasm for eating fruit.
