The students took along fresh fruit from home for a shared healthy meal at school. Some kids were absent because of the effects of Covid-19 and isolation requirements. However, this did not dampen the spirits of those who were present as they happily shared their healthy lunch with each other, said the school spokesperson Di Senibiakula.
Weaved kikau platters and wild flowers added an appealing presentation of the healthy foods which the kids “really enjoyed”.
Also, in celebration of the World Health Day yesterday, Te Marae Ora Ministry of Health conducted free health checks at the Constitution Park.
The initiative saw several dozen people get tested for a variety of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes and heart problems.
Public health nurse Tania John said it was important people kept on top of their health, especially in a pandemic environment.
