Cook Islands Tourism Industry Council has welcomed sale airfares to the nation during the shoulder season.

Air New Zealand announced one way fares to Rarotonga from $255 yesterday.

They are available until 4 October for the travel period covering 30 January – 27 March 2024.

Cook Islands Tourism Industry Council president Liana Scott was pleased to see the airline initiate “some excellent deals, particularly over low/shoulder season”.

“Kiwis have certainly have had a pretty mixed up year of unfavourable weather events, so perhaps that quick break during our summer season is just what they need.

“With no currency to change and only a 3.5 – 4-hour trip, what better way than to unwind in paradise,” Scott said.

She said accommodators had also agreed to compliment the deal with on the ground offers that make for a great overall package.

“The whole focus is to persuade Kiwis that February - March is actually a fantastic time to travel, long warm balmy days, lots of fresh tropical fruit and stunning sunsets are just the ticket needed to boost wellness and revive the soul.”

In conjunction with the low fares out of New Zealand, Air New Zealand is also offering reduced fares on services out of Rarotonga.

Those tickets are on sale until 9 October (1-8 October Cook Islands time) and include economy fares starting from $208, premium economy from $363 and business premier from $523.

Air New Zealand General Manager Short Haul Jeremy O’Brien said the Cook Islands is one of the airline’s most popular Pacific routes, so offering sale fares, gives even more travelers the opportunity to experience the tropical destination.

“If you’re wanting a little more relaxation in the New Year, now is your chance to get in early and snap up some super low fares to one of the Pacific’s best island destinations. The Cook Islands have something to offer every traveler – whether you’re looking for adventure, culture, a family-friendly holiday, or just a little relaxation.

“January-March is an ideal time to visit the Cook Islands – temperatures average around 26 degrees Celsius and any summer rain is typically in the form of brief tropical showers. What’s more, the summer months are generally quieter on the islands, so you won’t be fighting anyone for a pool lounger.

“These are some of our lowest fares available to the Islands, giving customers the chance to experience the tropics at affordable prices. We expect seats will be snapped up quickly, so as always, recommend customers get in quickly if they want to plan their island escape in 2024.”
