MCI rejects ‘dark fleet’ label
Of the 320 ships in the register, some 208 are tankers which comprise 93 per cent of total tonnage when measured by deadweight (dwt), reported Lloyd’s List, one of the world’s oldest shipping news agencies founded in London as early as 1734.

Maritime Cook Islands (MCI) has denied allegations of being a haven for Russian-linked tankers, stating that the registry complies with international sanctions and that many of the vessels in question were previously registered with other major flag states.
