Cook Islands Police are investigating a rape allegation and inappropriate sexual contact during the weekend labelling it as “serious incidents”.

Police media and strategic advisor Trevor Pitt says the two incidents involving a rape allegation and one of inappropriate sexual contact are disturbing.

Pitt couldn’t reveal more about the cases but confirmed that the rape victim is not a minor.

“These are being investigated as serious incidents.”

Pitt added that the Saturday night shift experienced a spike in activity as reports involved two domestic disturbances, one assault and a break-in at Takuvaine.

For driving related matters, he said it was relatively quiet as there were no motor vehicle crashes or arrests except for a ticket for no bike mirrors.
