A video circulated on social media showed the brawl between two groups of teenagers outside the Super Brown store.
In another video, several boys are seen kicking a teenager on the ground near the Cook Islands Meteorological Service in Nikao.
An anonymous source alleged the brawl was between Avatiu and Rutaki boys, claiming it started when a Rutaki boy revved his motorbike as a taunt.
“Everything started because a Rutaki boy revved his motorbike as a smart gesture directed at another person. Things escalated from there.”
Police media officer Trevor Pitt confirmed the incident is under investigation. He stated that police were called at 4.37pm on Sunday about the brawl, with one group fleeing while the other intending to go to the Police Station for questioning.
Pitt said that on the way to the Police Station, another fight broke out between the two groups.
“Police are in possession of video evidence,” Pitt said, adding that they are also investigating a separate incident involving stunt drivers accused of reckless driving on the weekend.
