Police are investigating a hit and run case that was reported early yesterday morning.

Media and strategic advisor Trevor Pitt said this was the third crash reported in the weekend.

A motorcyclist heading towards Kiikii from Pue was struck by a grey Toyota truck, which failed to stop.

He said that witnesses to this hit and run could not get the plate number but investigations are continuing.  Police were called at 1.08am.

Pitt said police attended to three weekend crashes.

He said: “Three crashes so far, which have demonstrated a callous disregard for the safety of others on the road,” Pitt said.

He said the first was on Friday at Muri with a reported speeding motorcyclist (aged 16) colliding into a truck near LBV.  Police were called at 6.04pm.

The second was reported early Saturday morning when a car rolled in Panama.  The driver reportedly veered off the road and struck a rock.  Police were called at 6.47am.  They were told the driver fell asleep.  Pitt said a blood sample has been sought for analysis.
