Police are investigating a car crash that occurred early yesterday morning in Tupapa. The car collided with a power pole along the main road.

Police media and strategic advisor Trevor Pitt last night confirmed that the driver claimed he fell asleep.

“Blood specimen was sought,” Pitt added.

On Monday morning, a crew from Te Aponga Uira (TAU), Rarotonga’s electricity provider, was observed repairing the damaged power pole.

According to a witness who lives near the area, she heard a loud noise from the roadside around 5.30am.

At 6.15am, she saw Te Aponga Uira team clearing the area and fixing a power pole.

A car with visible damages was parked nearby.
