An elderly motorcyclist died yesterday morning following a motorbike accident in Kiikii, Tupapa.

Cook Islands Police confirmed that “an elderly motorcyclist died at the scene in Kiikii”.

“The call came through at 8:54 am. Witness statements are being taken and a medical report is expected later today (yesterday). Emergency staff were attending to the man but he was unresponsive,” Police told Cook Islands News yesterday.

The newspaper believes the person died of a suspected cardiac arrest, but Police said the cause will need to be confirmed by the medical report.

Meanwhile, a driver and passengers sustained minor injuries when “a tourist backed out onto the hospital hill road (golf club side) from their accommodation and ended up on the side”.

“The female driver claimed the brakes were faulty.”
