Sporting executive’s case adjourned
Romani Katoa. 25011624

Sporting executive Romani Katoa who is charged in connection with the highly publicised property intrusion incident on Boxing Day 2024 has had his case adjourned to May 15.

Defence Counsel Mark Short informed the Court on Thursday that Katoa was still in the Pa Enua (Pukapuka) where he attended a personal family matter and is uncertain when the next shipping vessel would be to return to Rarotonga.

Short requested Justice of the Peace Vania Kenning for an adjournment and advised he would be drafting a Memorandum of Understanding to the Court to have a record of his submission.

Police prosecutor senior sergeant Fairoa Tararo informed the Court of a bail variation for the defendant where he was not allowed to leave the ‘Cook Islands’ without the approval of the High Court.

JP Kenning adjourned the matter.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of the incident at a Parengaru property, shared on social media in December, showed two individuals armed with knives entering the property after 2am on December 26, 2024.

Katoa is charged for wilful damage.
