Man who stole pigs to face justice

A man who has admitted to stealing a male and female pig this year in Rarotonga will be sentenced on June 19.

Andrew Sawtell, also known as Tonorio, appeared before Justice of the Peace Georgina Williams at the Criminal Court in Avarua yesterday.

He was represented by defence lawyer Norman George who requested that a probation report be ordered for his client’s sentence to review his domestic circumstances.

The court heard that in February this year Sawtell stole a white female pig which was valued at $200 and in March he stole a black male pig.

The defendant will be sentenced in a hearing with three Justices of the Peace sitting.
