Christopher Tangatakino appeared in the Criminal Court on Thursday before Justice of the Peace John Whitta.
His lawyer Michelle Tangimama said she had received disclosure from police and asked that the charges be read.
The court heard that on December 3, 2023, Tangatakino, kicked a woman in the thigh, punched her with both of his hands, punched her with both of his hands several times, squeezed her neck, punched her on the right arm, struck her on the right bicep with a stick, kicked her in the thigh, struck her on the left forearm with a stick, kicked her on the left side of the head, and kicked her in the head between her eyes.
Tangimama then asked for the matter to be stood down.
When the matter was recalled about 15 minutes later, Tangimama said her client would enter guilty pleas to all charges except, kicking the woman on the left side of her head, and kicking her in the head between her eyes.
Police said they needed time to discuss the matter with the complainant and asked for a call over.
The matter was adjourned to February 29.
