Asserting that Diane was simply out on a working scheme clearly highlights significant flaws within the framework of the current working scheme policy, and it should prompt a major review of these policies. This clearly tells me that those she was with have exploited the working scheme and allowed her to leave prison and enjoy the freedoms of society. If this is the case, it purely undermines the purpose of her imprisonment and the integrity of the justice system. In my personal opinion, the working scheme should be scrapped altogether. It seems evident that it is not resilient enough to prevent such abuses and is failing in its intended purpose. A thorough review and overhaul of the policies surrounding the working scheme should commence immediately to ensure that the justice system retains its credibility and that such situations do not recur in the future.
