A man facing a charge of cannabis possession has been ordered not to purchase or consume alcohol.

At the Criminal Court in Avarua, defence lawyer Mark Short told Justice of the Peace John Whitta that this was a new matter and requested for disclosures.

JP Whitta imposed bail conditions on Nooti Turahi. The conditions include not to enter liquor license premises, to surrender his passport and not to leave Rarotonga without the approval of the High Court.

The matter is adjourned to April 3.

The matter involving Enuakura Ngatokoroa, who is facing a charge of theft and three counts of dealing with a document, has been adjourned until February 27.  

Ngatokoroa was represented by defence counsel Temanu Soatini.

Sotini advised the Court that they were yet to receive disclosures and asked the matter to be adjourned.

JP Whitta adjourned the matter to February 27.

Ngatokoroa is on bail with the condition that she does not interfere with state witnesses, surrender her passport and not to leave Rarotonga without the approval of the High Court.

Frank James, who is currently in custody, has had his matter adjourned to February 20, giving him time to discuss the indecent assault charge against him with his lawyer.

Police prosecutor senior sergeant Fairoa Tararo said there could be additional charges and asked for another week’s adjournment.

The case of Akariva Tuaalu has been adjourned to July 15 for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault on a female.

Tuaalu represented himself.

JP Whitta ordered a probation report and adjourned the matter.

Apenisa Vukialagi, represented by defence lawyer Henry Herman, entered no plea and his case was adjourned to April 13.

Vukialagi faces a charge of assault on a female. He has been bailed on the following conditions; not to make contact with the victim, to surrender his passport to court, and not to leave Rarotonga until his next appearance.
