A man who continued to have interim name suppression has admitted to a charge of assault on a female.

The defendant’s initial charge of threatening to kill was withdrawn by police and substituted by assault on a female.

Represented by Mona Ioane, the defendant will be sentenced on July 9.

On assault on a female matter, a man appeared via an audio-visual link from Manihiki and admitted to the facts.

Tupoatimo Noa admitted to assaulting a female on March 31 and will be sentenced on July 9.

He is also to be sentenced on a charge of wilful damage.

In a breach of probation matter, Tamatoa Nicholas was ordered to pay a fine of $40 and $50 court cost.

Police prosecutor senior sergeant Fairoa Tararo said that on May 7, Nicholas was sentenced to probation supervision for two separate assault charges.

His probation orders included not to enter any liquor licence premises and not to consume alcohol.

However, on May 12, Tamatoa was seen at the Hula Bar by an off-duty police officer who reported the matter.

Senior sergeant Tararo recommended a fine for his first breach.

Teikamata Pareanga admitted to four counts of assault on a female, three counts for contempt of court and a charge of assault with intent.

The court heard that in October last year the defendant slapped a female, grabbed her hair and pulled her to the ground and punched her multiple times.

The court further heard he intended to injure the victim by strangling her neck.

Defence lawyer Michelle Tangimama asked for an adjournment as she had to look through a psychological report before his sentencing.

The matter was adjourned to July 2.

A man has denied charges of wilfully damaging a property in Matavera. The damage is estimated to cost around $63,000.

Joe Emmanuela is alleged to have damaged a home where he is accused of removing all exterior and interior walls, floors, windows and electrical wires.

The matter has been adjourned to August 27 for a full day defence hearing.
