One of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most beloved musicians, Tiki Taane, is finally back in Rarotonga and ready to take the stage at Trios Garden Bar this Friday (tomorrow).

Described as a multi-faceted creative force, Taane is not only a renowned musician but also an experimentalist, musical activist, producer, and live engineer. He’s regarded a true legend of Kiwi music, particularly revered for his dub reggae mastery.

This Friday, Taane will finally fulfill the long-awaited Rarotonga show that was originally booked pre-Covid.

Maurice “Mo” Newport of Motone Productions, the concert’s organiser and manager, said: “Having Tiki here to perform his ‘One Man band’ ’show is a brilliant way to celebrate Christmas and kick into the wrapping up of 2023 with some good vibes from the master of it.”

Newport added Taane will be joined by the stunning duo Good Habits, who have already wowed audiences here in Rarotonga with concerts at Tamarind House, and DJ AXIS as well as an early warm up with some fun island styles from the Non-Stop Boys.

“This is a night in Rarotonga that you shouldn’t miss,” he said.

Taane was a member of leading New Zealand band Salmonella Dub but left after 11 years in January 2007 to pursue a solo career.

His debut album, “Past, Present, Future”, was released on October 22, 2007 in New Zealand and has since gone two times platinum, achieving a number one single – the beautiful acoustic love ballard “Always on My Mind” – which became the first digital single to reach platinum sales and also held the record by staying in the NZ Top 40 Charts for 55 weeks.

Taane is also the exclusive live sound engineer for New Zealand drum and bass act Shapeshifter since their first gig in 1999. He has also produced multi-platinum albums for bands such as Six60, Shapeshifter, Salmonella Dub and Tiki Taane.

His recent success with his international multi-award winning music documentary film, Tiki Taane in Session with CSO (Christchurch Symphony Orchestra), which was filmed at the Christchurch Town Hall, gives a glimpse of just how multi-talented Taane is as an artist.

On Friday night, Taane will remind audiences of the sheer power of his ability to unify and connect through his music as he delivers a unique performance experience.

Tickets for the show are $40 each and are available at Trios Bar and on Motone Productions ticketing line 54461. Limited door sales will be available.
