Four talented performing acts from the semi-finals of the Cook Islands Has Talent show have secured their spots in the grand finale, which will take place next Saturday, September 28.

Judges used the “golden ei” buzzer concept in selecting outstanding performances from the 14 who competed in the semi-finals at Staircase last Saturday night.

Zorayoa “Haydee” Dato, Reeana Aviu, Tarita Thompson and the Up Down Kutia’s Ukarere Team of Derek Doherty, Ariki Enoka, Maria Grace and Kalani Pearman were the “golden ei” winners. Aviu also received the People’s Choice Award.

Sisi Short, organiser of the Cook Islands Has Talent show, said each of the “golden ei” presented to the chosen four was sewn with five $10 notes.

“We are very thankful to the golden ei sponsors Alana Short, Avera Hunter, Anna Tixier and Augustly Kingi for their kind donations for our talent quest,” said Short.

She added that the performances and the audience on the night “were great, and we are really grateful.”

Short was pleased to also announce that members of the public will have the opportunity to choose six more contestants to compete in the final.

Texting is open now, text 947 and vote for the number representing your favourite artist.

Members of the public can text as many times as they like at a cost of $1 per text.

Text your vote for: 2 Tanga Morris, 3 Lurlin Tekoronga, 4 Solomone Taukei, 5 Ake Frederick, 7 Ma Lourdes Bode, 8 Nicolea Mateariki, 9 Hewett Napa, 10 Terā-'itirere-ki-Avaiki “Mama Ra”, 11 Nina Theresa Newbauer, and 12 Stephan Mae Cabangon.

The top six contestants who receive the most text votes will be guaranteed a spot in the final.

The finalists will be announced this Saturday at the Staircase Bar during the “Niue Entertainment Night”. Contestants will also be invited to showcase their talents on stage. Professional local talent will also be featured.

Entertainment will start from 7.30pm and door sales ticket will be $10 per person. Call Sisi Short at 52881 to purchase tickets during the week.

Proceeds will be directed to the Fale Niue (hostel) project in Tupapa.

Short would like to acknowledge CITC, Vodafone and Heimana Music who will be sponsoring a recording for the ultimate winner for their valued support for their Niue community project.
