This annual public holiday event is celebrated by spirited worship, uplifting music, inspiring messages and entertaining drama performances based on Gospel themes.
The Ngatangiia Ekalesia hosted yesterday’s event at the Autapu Grounds in Avana.
Led by uplifting hymns the Ekalesia began yesterday’s programme on time marching promptly into the venue before 9am.
Reverend Haraveikore William, minister of the Ngatangiia CICC, delivered the opening prayer service followed by traditional hymns.
Ken Ben, general secretary of the CICC executive board presented the opening remarks, and declared the 2024 Gospel Celebrations open.
“It is an honour as we gather to uplift and celebrate our faith, our community and our shared commitment for the teachings of Christ,” said Ben.
“As we impart on this celebration let us take a moment to reflect on one of the profound words of scripture found in Philippines Chapter 4 verse 13: I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.
“This powerful reminder calls us to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead together—under the guidance of our faith there is no limit to what we can achieve as a congregation and as a community.
“Let us celebrate not only the individual journey of our lives but also the collective journey of the Cook Islands Christian Church, the Religious Advisory Council and other religious family working together in harmony with each other in a biblical movement.
“May today be a testament to our resilience, our shared pain and our commitment to uplifting one another.
“So, we invite each of you to open your hearts and minds as we engage in worship, fellowship and inspiration.
“Let us rejoice in the love of Christ and the blessings of our community.”
Ben expressed that with joyful hearts and the spirit of unity may their time together at the event be filled with uplifting worship inspiring messages and a deep sense of community.
“Let us come – together, to lift our voices in praise and to share your love and the grace of your saviour.
“Thank you and may God bless each of you as we begin this meaningful celebration,” he said.
Ben acknowledged the Kings Representative His Excellency Sir Tom Marsters, Ui Ariki, Ministers and leaders, and the secretary of the council of World Vison. “Your support enriches our community and together we can strive to embody the values of love, compassion and service that Christ exemplifies.”
