The New Zealand based author known for her enchanting children’s books describes the Rarotonga book as a fun, child-friendly novel that celebrates the Cook Islands.
She says the new book is proving popular and has already been reprinted, and the publisher has just released the e-book version.
Cook Islands actor Dominic Ona-Ariki has narrated the audiobook version, which is releasing on multiple international platforms, she says.
McMillan’s visit includes a visit to Te Uki Ou Primary School.
According to a statement, it was published by Duckling Publishing, and has a growing legion of young fans.
And thanks to the Pacific Resort Hotel Group, she spent time in Rarotonga to research and write Elastic Island Adventures: Rarotonga, the latest book in the series.
According to the Pacific Resort Hotel Group’s collaboration with McMillan, dates back to 2022, has been a remarkable journey and in partnership, the reosrt shared her storytelling with local schools through chapter readings, which received an overwhelmingly positive response.
Pacific Resort Rarotonga has donated copies of Elastic Island Adventures: Rarotonga to 11primary schools across Rarotonga and Aitutaki.
A statement about the book said Kiri, Jed, and twins Emma and Ethan frequently journey on ‘elastic island’, a unique way to travel that sends them pinging across the ocean to various tropical destinations.
“This time, they travel with Blong the Cat and Heathcliff the Dog to beautiful Rarotonga. They expect to relax in the sun, but it’s not long until they encounter problems. Firstly, Mighty Moko, the resident grumpy gecko who lives in their room, is determined to get rid of them, no matter what!
