The unbeaten Nikao 1 Black Wolves and Turangi Young Guns lead the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively, in the Cook Islands Cricket Association T20 competition.

The men’s round will enter Round 8 while the women’s head into Round 7 competition today.

The Black Wolves have won all of their six matches and maintain their top spot on 18 points, followed by Turangi Young Guns with five wins and 15 points. Arorangi Redbacks, K-11 Orcas (Tupapa), and Tupapa Young Rookies have all won four matches each and have 12 points each. However, on net run rate, the Redbacks are placed third, followed by the Orcas and Tupapa Young Rookies in fifth place.

In Round 7 competition last week, the Black Wolves bagged a big win against Muri Creeps at home. The Creeps batted first and scored only 64 runs for 10 in 14 overs. In reply, the Black Wolves reached the target in 9.3 overs with a loss of three wickets.

In the other men’s matches, Turangi Young Guns hosted Nikao 2 White Wolves, Takuvaine Bats took on Tupapa Panthers, and Arorangi Redbacks battled Tupapa Young Rookies.

The White Wolves batted first against Turangi Young Guns and scored 149 runs for 7 in 20 overs. In reply, the Young Guns reached the target in 10.3 overs with a loss of two wickets to record a massive eight-wicket win.

The Redbacks and Tupapa Young Rookies match was held at Raemaru Park. The home side batted first and were all out for 158 runs in 17.5 overs. The Young Rookies fell short after managing only 114 runs for 10 in 17.2 overs. The Redbacks won by 44 runs.

Tupapa Panthers, who batted first, scored a massive 205 runs for 7 against Takuvaine Bats. The Bats managed only 159 runs for 9, handing Tupapa a 46-run win.

In the women’s Round 6 competition last week, Arorangi Red Hot Babes defeated Takuvaine Bats by seven wickets, while Nikao Honey Wolves overcame Muri Creeps by four wickets.

The Bats batted first and set a target of 131 runs for 8 in 20 overs. In reply, the Red Hot Babes managed to overcome the target in 16.5 overs with a loss of three wickets.

The Muri Creeps batted first against the Honey Wolves and scored 80 runs for 10 in 10.4 overs. In reply, the Honey Wolves overcame the target in 14.1 overs with a loss of six wickets.
