Can I please enquire through your newspaper why WATSAN declined a request for a project-funded septic tank system for the night market property in Muri? With up to 500 patrons frequenting the Muri night market on a weekly basis, surely this more than justifies and qualifies this very property to be installed with a WATSAN funded-septic tank system? Come to think of it, can WATSAN management explain to the public how a vacant section in Avana/Aroko, where the old Ngatangiia packing shed once stood, could qualify for a WATSAN-funded septic tank but the Muri night market property cannot? Surely priority would go to a property more deserving whereby it is a no-brainer that numerous people congregate regularly (night market) rather than some small section that has no dwelling on it and is unlikely to do so for some time? Where’s the justice and fairness in all this? Sadly it would appear in this particular instance that decisions were made by WATSAN management which were based on the individuals’ “standing” in the community rather than one based on merit.
