Dear Editor, In response to Rod Grout’s letter, I have understood that the Cook Islands has wanted to realize its fisheries potential and, in isolation, it is a lucrative interest. There has been a view put forth that this issue is best looked at on a regional basis and I agree. It has been proven that fish stocks globally have declined and will continue to do so if further restrictions are not put in place.

Dear Editor, The pertinent qualifying criteria for the Lost Tribe members to qualify to collect the NZ pension requires a person to have spent five of those 20 years in New Zealand after the age of 50 years. That is what is preventing the Lost Tribe from qualifying. And this is what is driving a number of people over the age of 50 to move to NZ so they can qualify for this particular criteria.
