Inmates at the Arorangi Prison received about $2000 of linen consisting of towels, sheets, pillows, pillow protectors, bath robes and mattress protectors from the Pacific Resort kitchen staff yesterday. For the past five years, Pacific Resort has run a community outreach programme where each department decides whom will receive their donations. Luther Zainy, head chef at the resort approached minister Angene to inquire what items they could donate to the inmates. Zainy said he hopes the inmates will have a good night’s sleep with the linen they have gifted, have good thoughts and maybe this will help out with their rehabilitation. “We are a small community; we continue to give to the community.” Angene said he is thankful to Zainy and the Pacific resort kitchen department for selecting the Arorangi Prison as the recipient of the hotels March donation. In the past the Teimurimotia Fire Rescue station, Creative Centre, Takitumu and Rutaki schools are only a few who have benefited from the generosity of the Pacific Resort community outreach programme.
