Dr Isaac Warbrick is in Rarotonga as part of his research on indigenous knowledge relating to health. As Director of Taupua Waiora Centre for Maori Health Research at Auckland University of Technology, he leads Maori health research projects, supervises Masters and PhD students, and teaches post-graduate classes in Maori ways of approaching health and research. 18082916

Maori and Polynesian people are constantly reminded that we’re becoming more overweight and obese. But our recent research suggests that weight loss, and biological health measures just aren’t relevant to us culturally, being told we need to lose weight just doesn’t motivate us to change our lifestyle.
