Young men taking part in the Youth Leadership Programme are making improvements after five days of intense military drills and theoretical training. The programme will teach the young men discipline, leadership and organisational skills. The 30 young men have a strict schedule, beginning with early morning exercises, specific physical session, chores and theory lessons. They are expected to make their own beds, wash and iron their clothes and be presentable prior to their learning sessions. The young men are learning different values daily such as honesty and respect. “At the beginning of the week the boys showed a bit of attitude and uneasiness, but I have noticed more discipline and structure in the young men,” says IT manager and physical training instructor Aporo Kirikava. The young men have been taught to make direct eye contact, maintain a suitable posture and speak in respectful manner when addressing all programme staff.
