Tuesday 31: Driving related matters landed three people in police custody last week.
A woman was arrested for disqualified driving on Saturday outside the Empire Theatre. She was released on bail and will appear in court on Thursday.
A 24-year-old male who was involved in a crash in Tupapa will also appear in court this week. He was arrested on Saturday and tested for excess breath alcohol.
On Sunday a man was arrested for EBA, driving while disqualified and breaching his probation conditions. He was released on bail and police have laid charges against him.
Only two burglaries were reported in Rarotonga last week which included the Avatea School staff room. Among the items stolen last Monday were a tin of milk powder and a carton of soft drinks.
Seven minor crashes occurred on the roads including a motorcycle hitting a dog in front of the Runway Store in Nikao on Wednesday. Police say no injuries were reported. A motorcycle ran into the back of a vehicle at the St Joseph’s School intersection on Tuesday and an opened car door was swiped by a passing vehicle outside FBI on Friday.
Police say it’s been a relatively quiet week and are encouraged to see the low number of burglaries. - DK
