Letter: Where’s the justice?

Dear Editor, The conviction and jailing of Charlie Katu, father and husband, for shipping an illegal herb to Aitutaki goes to prove that everyone involved is doing their job.

Our politicians (none of whom have ever smoked a joint!) have done their part by failing to catch up with the rest of the world and turned the weed into an income stream like that of the harmful drug alcohol. Our Police for following the law. Crown Law for prosecuting the law. Our Judges for enforcing the law.
This writer just wonders what the result might be if the above mentioned people put the same effort into enforcing the many protection orders issued by the Court to protect those of our battered and abused women who, simply, get no protection whatsoever from those orders.
