Cook Islands High Court. 24050916
The accused, who is represented by defence lawyer Jamie Crawford, appeared before Justice of the Peace Tangi Taoro on Wednesday.
Crawford told the Court that the accused has been in custody for two months and he had a right to be bailed. She also confirmed the defendant's place of residence, which was now agreed upon by the police.
Police prosecutor senior sergeant Fairoa Tararo did not object to bail.
JP Taoro granted bail on the conditions that the accused is not to consume or purchase alcohol, not to enter liquor licence premises, not to leave Rarotonga without the approval of the Court, not to contact the complainants and to follow curfew 7pm-7am. He was also ordered to surrender his passport.
Details of the accused and anything leading to the identification of the victims are suppressed. The matter has been adjourned to April 17.

----------
A man convicted of wilfully damaging a property in Matavera has been given a suspended sentence of eight months.
Joe Emmanuela, represented by defence lawyer Michelle Tangimama, admitted to the charge on November 26 last year.
The court heard that in December 2023 Emmanuela wilfully damaged a home by removing all exterior and interior walls, partitions, door hinges and floor at the value of $63,000.
The court heard that Emmanuela refused to pay the quoted value of $63,000, stating that he should not be responsible for the damages to the items he had bought for construction.
The Court heard that he had purchased them, to make the home suitable for living for his family.
Emmanuela was, however, ordered to pay $6025.65 after a second quote was provided to the Court and a court cost of $50.
