Letter: Decriminalising cannabis

It’s clear to this writer that Trevor Pitt earns his salary as PR man for the Police. He’s explained why it took the Police days to arrest a suspect of an apparent armed property invasion when the victim had identified the suspect to the Police immediately.

What Trevor now needs to explain is why the Police continue to expend significant time and money arresting growers of cannabis. And time for Teariki Heather of the United Party to get progressive and get with the bulk of democratic societies that have de-criminalised God’s weed and seen the benefits to those communities. Heather has heaped praise on the Police for arresting the farmers.

If it turns out that the apparent armed invasion was booze-fuelled, perhaps both Pitt and Heather can publish a list of the violent crimes committed in the Cook Islands by locals high on weed? Where are the stoned wife beaters, the stoned child abusers, the crashed drivers who has a smoke instead of a drink?
